Musical Director (MD)  

Responsibilities

• • Arrange music and assign others to arrange as needed

  • Assign parts on all arrangements

  • Attend monthly Officer meetings

  • Conduct initial new member auditions and decide who to call back for a final audition with the entire group

  • Give starting notes and conduct at all gigs

  • Keep up morale and inspiration, and provide general leadership in order for the group to excel musically

  • Maintain well-rounded repertoire and decide on song selection and order for gigs and concerts

  • Make final decisions on musical styles, song polishing, and overall musical presentation for gigs

  • Offer help outside of rehearsal with musical needs

  • Teach music and lead group at rehearsals; decide on agenda and oversee breakouts into smaller groups

Assistant Musical Directors (AMD) 

Responsibilities - TBD

• • Assist MD during new member auditions

  • Assist MD in keeping up morale and discipline during rehearsals

  • Assist MD in rehearsals as needed, e.g. leading breakout groups

  • Attend monthly Officer meetings

  • Conduct and lead rehearsals and gigs when Musical Director is unavailable

  • Help the group stay on schedule during rehearsals

  • Offer at least one musical arrangement each season, if possible, based on official song selection process

  • Provide feedback on musicality to Musical Director and group

• Assist MD and AMD during rehearsals with musicality, notes, tone, style of songs; provide feedback and corrections

• Assist MD and AMD with genre selections and final phase song(s) during song selection process

• Assist MD and AMD with selection of songs for all gigs and performances

• Attend monthly Officer meetings

• Boost group morale and help keep focus during rehearsals

• Help the group stay on schedule during rehearsals

• In partnership with MD, AMD, and Choreography team, assist with concert presentation, including choreography, set order, stage appearance, etc.
