Arrangements
The Arrangements file store maintains and organizes the source files used in Capital Blend arrangements. All Finale/MusicXML source files are saved to the Arrangements file store. For continuity and compatibility between programs, MusicXML files should also be generated and uploaded.
File Names
Use the following naming convention for arrangements:
Capital Blend - SONG TITLE - SCORE TYPE
File Uploads
When uploading files, create a folder for each song and save all related files to the folder. Folders and files are displayed in alphabetical order.
You will be prompted to provide a description for each file. Use the following convention:
For full scores - [FILE FORMAT] All parts on separate staves
For sheet music - [FILE FORMAT] Formatted for print
For lyric sheets - [FILE FORMAT] Lyrics and melody line
Be sure to include the file format type (Finale, Sibelius, MusicXML) in brackets to help users identify files.
Arranger Notes:
The following are suggested guidelines to follow when arranging music for Capital Blend.
Identify how many voices are needed for the solo, any harmony, bass, and vocal percussion. The remaining voices will be left to cover the rest of the parts.
Refer to the Voice Part column on the spreadsheet for help with identifying vocal ranges.
Sample in/mash up other songs to make it unique to Capital Blend. For example, Rachel George's arrangement of "Firework" samples "Teenage Dream," while Shana Jacobus's "Adele Medley" mashes together "Hometown Glory" and "Rolling in the Deep."
After you have completed your arrangement, please e-mail it to the music directors.
Preparing Arrangements
You can also help us get the music up on our wiki by:
Formatting the full score, sheet music, and lyrics sheet. For more information, refer to the guidelines on score setup.
Exporting the full score, sheet music, and lyrics sheet to MusicXML format (Finale instructions). This ensures cross-compatibility between programs.
Creating MP3s of the arrangement and voice parts for rehearsal (Finale instructions). For more information, refer to the guidelines for creating rehearsal MP3s.
Save the sheet music and lyrics sheet to PDF. For more information, refer to the guidelines on sheet music setup.
